Update 10th October 2020

Good morning Friends and & Family of Barlaston Church,

Covid has certainly changed the way we do things at the moment, but we are planning ahead bearing in mind the restrictions that we face. This week the Ministry Leadership Team had a socially distanced meeting in church. We had a very good discussion about plans for forthcoming events, they included the APCM, Thanksgiving service, Remembrance Sunday and some exciting arrangements for Christmas. Details and full information will be made available at a later date. The leaders of Mosaic and Tots continue to keep in touch with the children and we hope one day they may be able to meet up again at church.

Tomorrow, Sunday 11th October at 10.30am we will be holding the Annual Parochial Church Meeting during the morning Communion service. As things currently stand the following proposals have been made for elected positions: Churchwardens: Gill Brealey and Dennis Croome. Deanery Synod: Merrilyn Coutouvidis. PCC: Chris Burton, Gordon Reid, Ian Vandevalle and Barbara Whittle.

I have been working on the statistics for the church (which we are expected to do each October). You may be interested to know that from our Electoral Roll of 128 members 50% have attended church services since we reopened in July. Of course, of the 50% who have not been at church some are shielding, housebound or in care homes. We have been regularly in touch with all of these people. The average attendance at a Sunday 1030 has been 38. Thank you all for your continued support.

Long serving members of the church will remember Vera Sanders. Vera, of Ridge Close has passed away aged 98 years. Her husband George died a few few years ago also aged 98.

'O Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you, I will praise your name;
for you have done wonderful things,
plans formed of old, faithful and sure.'
Isaiah 25.1

Blessings

Dennis Croome
