28th May news and update
Good morning church family and friends,
What has this week been like for you? Forgetting the inevitable chat about the English weather and the Cummings v Hancock debate, what are we left with? I feel that the emptiness of our lives over the lockdowns is beginning to be re-filled as parts of our lives are re-opened. It’s still a while to go before we get back to normal or maybe I should say the ‘new normal.’
So where are we as a church coming out of Covid?
We had a great Pentecost service last Sunday as many of our regular church members gathered to worship. Stewart preached a challenging sermon which was topped by his wife, Julie giving a personal testimony. Alison Dando will be speaking this coming Sunday 30th May, Trinity Sunday. We look forward to another great time of worship and thanksgiving.
It has been lovely to welcome children back into church and Sue Croome always ensure that there are activities for them at the back of the church. These are always appreciated by the children. It is still not possible for children’s groups to meet formerly, but Eleanor Ravenscroft will be delivering packs to each of the Mosaic families for them enjoy during the school ½ term break. Do pray for our teachers as they have a break from the school routine following a very difficult and challenging time in their schools.
The new arrangement of the chairs in church has ben appreciated and you may have noticed that other changes are gradually being made as we prepare for an outpost of the ‘Diocesan Office’ to be situated in the Upper Room. This inevitably means furniture will be moved around and rearranged.
The PCC are hoping to have a ‘day at home’ on a Saturday in July to pray and plan for the future work of the church over the coming months and years as we come out of the pandemic.
Stewart has a few marriages booked in and there have been a number of enquiries for Baptisms of babies born during the pandemic. So, yes things are slowly moving forward.
I hope you’ll be able come on Sunday or Wednesday at 1030am and join with us in worship.
Take care, blessings,
Dennis Croome, Churchwarden.
